Super cool. (Sorry for the delayed posting, this got lost in our inbox!)

I’m not sure if this is in our archives already, so I’m reblogging it to make sure.

How to reach Murkmire and Dreadmoor

badaxefamily:

Or at least how to pass the “forbidden zone” status, as I lost my screenshots of the specific areas when my hard drive fried recently. The entry points for these zones are the large wall in south Whitevale, and one of the blocked-off paths leading away from Illium. Both Exile and Dominion characters can reach these areas. To pass any forbidden zone:

  • Approach the border and when the “forbidden zone” warning pops up, activate a transforming toy. I know [AM] Bush works for sure, but others may also work provided they freeze you in place.
  • Wait until the countdown timer runs out. You won’t be able to see it while transformed, so just have a rough idea of how long it is.
  • Once the timer has run out and you normally would have died, disengage the toy. Since the timer isn’t active anymore, you won’t die and are free to walk in places you aren’t normally allowed!

You can pass any “forbidden zone” this way, but not “uncharted waters”. I’ve wandered around between Blighthaven and the Defile this way, and outside the borders of Arcterra. You can’t ride a mount in these areas, and the unreleased zones are in varying levels of completion, and have no music or NPCs.

I’ll try to get some screenshots of the entry points later, but it isn’t terribly difficult to figure out if you think about how to climb up on things.

I’ve known about this for a while, but those that know have always kept it a pretty tightly guarded secret lest it get patched out. But now, heck it. Go to all the places.

With the game closing down soon, I’m revisiting and documenting all of my favorite places that are tucked away, hard to reach, or otherwise off the map–because the developers pored a lot of details and a few secrets into the world of Wildstar, and I want them to know I found many of them. I love this world, so Quint and Rawbones are gonna take y’all on a journey across it before it’s gone.

Kicking this off with a place that’s not really secret OR hard to reach but still slightly Off The Map–the Auroria islands. This is honestly one of my favorite areas in Wildstar, and I’ve roleplayed out here several times over the years. There are a few small islands and a whole stretch of coastline that you can follow from Auroria all the way to Wilderrun. To reach them, go to the very end of the river in Auroria (east of Fort Glory) and run down the cliffs, following the bay out into the open water.
